Ever wonder the difference between a licensed real estate agent & a REALTOR®? A REALTOR® voluntarily belongs to a local, state & national association and subscribes to a strict Code of Ethics. Article 1 of the Code of Ethics requires that REALTORS® “pledge themselves to protect and promote the interests of their client. This obligation to the client is primary, but it does not relieve REALTORS® of their obligation to treat all parties honestly.” REALTORS® are also mandated to complete an updated NAR Code of Ethics training every three years.

Northwest Indiana Real Estate Professionals value the opportunity to hold membership in the Greater Northwest Indiana Association of REALTORS® in order to conduct their business professionally, ethically, and cooperatively with other professionals in the industry.

The Professional Standards department is responsible for administering the enforcement of the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS® among our membership. If you believe a REALTOR® has violated one or more of the Articles of the Code of Ethics, and you wish to discuss your situation prior to filing a formal complaint, please contact Laura Sallie, the Professional Standards Administrator.
