The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency requires real estate brokers and managing brokers to complete continuing education every year. As REALTORS® you must complete Code of Ethics as well. See below for details, deadlines & explanation. 

Real estate brokers requirements include:

  • 12 hours of CE between July 1 - June 30 each year
  • No mandatory or elective credits
  • License renewal occurs every three years 

Real estate managing brokers requirements include:

  • 12 hours of CE between July 1 - June 30 each year
  • 4 credits of your 12 must be managing broker credit approved courses
  • License renewal occurs every three years 
    • Upcoming renewal deadline (June 30, 2017)
    • See calendar for latest class schedule (look for MGBRCR)
    • Online CE option, discount codes available

New real estate licensees (licensed on or after July 1, 2014):

  • Must complete a 30-Hour Post Licensing Course within two years of obtaining license
  • Example for further clarification: Jim’s broker license was issued on August 15, 2014. He has until August 15, 2016 to complete the 30 hours of post licensing education. He was initially licensed in the July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 CE year. He is not required to complete regular continuing education during this year. The next two (2) CE years (July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 and July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017), he is also not required to complete the regular continuing education. The first CE year that he will have to complete regular continuing education is the July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 CE year. Jim will need to complete 12 hours of CE between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018 and each year to follow.


Code of Ethics requirements:

  • REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time within four-year cycles. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®. 
  • The next cycle will end Dec. 31, 2018.
  • Future cycles will include more frequency.
    • January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018
    • January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020
